Saturday 27th June – walk ***** Nacton Shore circuit – blustery showers with sunny periods.

So after a crappy windsurf session at The Dip I arrived home early and after having lunch with Mag I decided it was time to head out in the van for a walk. With Levington Marina still closed for windsurfing I was keen to check out Nacton Shore as a windsurfing spot. There is a small car park at the end of a deadend lane which is very popular but we managed to park and were oon down by the River Orwell with Pin Mill opposite. The wind was very strong onshore and it had just started to lightly rain but we decided to carry on walking. We soon reached the woods which sheltered us from the rain. Climbing up into the beautiful woods we decided to head to Levington Creek and turn the walk into a circular walk:) Despite the breeze it was mild and great to be out, out of the woods we turned left across the duckboards through the reed beds, spotting two deer and a family of young ducks. Up the hill to Levington Church seeing two more deer and then we had to walk along the road until we reached the diagonal footpath back through another pretty wood along a bridle path seeing our 5th deer! Back at the van I recognized Steve Millers van so headed down to the waterfront where he was rigging a 4m sail to go out foiling! We had a nice chat while watching a couple with a topper and a canoe set out onto a windy Orwell! We left before Steve got onto the water as my camera battery had died and headed home knackered for a cuppa and cake!
